Terms & Conditions for Participation

The Four Feather Ultra Marathon (FFUM) is an extreme outdoor road and trail race that is designed for trail runners who understand the risks associated with participating in such an event. In particular:

  • 1-Runners acknowledge that by participating in such an event, they accept that the route is challenging and at times designed for runners who are conditioned and trained for such an event. They also understand the risks in participating in such an event in a natural surrounding and they are therefore exposed to the elements and the dangers of nature.

  • 2-Runners understand that medical response to emergencies may be slow due to the nature of the event and remote locations of this event and any medical evacuation will take time. They accept the risks of a slower than usual medical response, treatment and neccessary evacuation as part of the risk of participating in this event due to the remote nature of this event.

  • 3-The organization reserves the right to withdraw the privilege of running in this race if an individual is found to be acting against the spirit of the race, be it cheating, illegal bib swapping without the approval of the organizers, removal of markers, throwing/dumping of rubbish on the race course or the venue for the event, anger/temper tantrums, use of foul and abusive language be it verbal or written and individuals who act outside of the social norms of the running community and do not abide by the spirit of competition.  Trolling on social media platforms or causing unneccessary problems and issues may warrant an immediate cancellation of the person's participation in the event without a refund.

  • 4-Minimum age requirements:

    • 90km: 21 years or older on race day.

    • 50km: 21 years or older on race day.

    • 18km/10km: 12 years or older on race day (must be accompanied by an adult/guardian) (5 children per adult**)

  • 5-All competitors are responsible in ensuring they are medically fit to participate in this event and do not suffer from any of the medical conditions stated below. Competitors suffering from any of the medical conditions stated below are not allowed to participate in this event:

    • Congenital or rheumatic heart conditions

    • Hypertension

    • Myocarditis and other heart conditions

    • Coronary heart disease, coronary arterial disease

    • Serious arrhythmia

    • Diabetes (**refer to race organizers for more information)

    • Vertigo

    • Any other major diseases that can be aggravated by running in extreme conditions and/or under extreme weather

  • 6-Competitors agree to adhere to the set REGISTRATION times and to make their way to the designated START locations before committing to the event. This event does not allow for third party registrations or third party bib collections. All competitors must provide a photocopy of their MyKad or passports to the organizers during registration for our records and must sign a legal indemnity form when collecting their race kit in person and must produce their MYKARD/Passport for verification during registrations.

  • 7-Please note the logistics of transporting runners who request the bus transfer option from Kota Kinabalu to the START venue differs from other event organizers and because of the sensitive time lines and limited facilities at the START venue, runners should study the RACE REGISTRATION TIMES/START TIMES for each category and BUS TRANSFER TIMES from DESIGNATED DEPARTURE POINTS before committing to participating in this event. The designated information will not be changed and it is up to each individual runner to ensure they arrive in Kota Kinabalu in advance of race kit collection times and bus departure times for this event. 

  • 8-Competitors agree to abide by any adjudication by the race director, which will be final.

  •  9-Supervised DROP BAG (90k only) and FINISH BAG (all categories) collection will be done at the race START venue on the day of the event for participating runners (details will be advertised prior to the event). No travel bags will be collected by the organizer for this event. All travel bags should be left behind at your hotel or at the hotel you plan on staying at after the event in advance of departure to the START venue. 

  • 10-Competitors understand and accept the race organization reserves the right to postpone the event date or cancel the event in the interest of safety or situations beyond the control if the organizers in the best interest of participants if necessary. No requests for refunds will be entertained and runners may opt to request a legal bib swap or to transfer their entry to another runner if they are unable to participate in the event the race is postponed to a new date. It is the responsibility of the runner to find a replacement runner.

  • 11-Runners are responsible for ensuring they have travel insurance if they are flying/travelling to Sabah for the event in the event of a postponement or cancellation of the event due to situations beyond the control of the organizers to cover any accomodation/flight cancellations and costs. Avta Sports is not responsible for refunds for such a cancellation or postponement of the event.

  • 12-Competitors understand and accept that the organizers reserve the right to make changes to the published race course as deemed necessary at any time if there is such a need in the best interest of both organizers and runners alike.

  • 13-Competitors accept that they are prohibited from bib swapping, re-selling for profit or transferring race slots/race entries/race bibs to another person without the express permission of the organizing team.

  • 14-Complaints and Disputes: We invite you to file complaints or wish to bring up an important matter with us with us via email to avtasports@gmail.com within 24 hours of the end of the event. A review will be carried out and an official reply made within 7-14 days or less. No appeals or complaints or disputes will be entertained via facebook, social media platforms or watsapp.

  • 15-No refunds are payable for competitors of this event who withdraw, do not show up for race kit collection/official registrations in Kota Kinabalu or do not turn up to compete in the event. No refunds will be entertained after full payment has been made to participate in this event. No refunds or cancellation of registrations and payments are entertained once entry fees/logistics are purchased effective 1st November 2019. No refunds will be entertained in the event the race is postponed or cancelled due to situations beyond the control of the organizers. No claims for accomodations or flights will be entertained as runners should have purchased travel insurance to cover incidentals. 

  • 16-Please adhere to deadline for a legal bib swap. To enquire on the last date to make a legal bib swap, please contact us at avtasports@gmail.com or 011-2669-6060. Racematix will charge a fee for bib swaps. Shirt sizes selected by the original runner may NOT be changeable after mid November/early December as we begin production of event tees/finisher tees. 

  • 17-This event is organized by Avta Sports Sdn Bhd and it's partners.

  • 18-All registrations for this event will be done via Racematix.com & JOMRUN. All runners registering under JOMRUN must also register under racematix (no need to make additional entry fee payments) so that we can verify your timing during the event. It is the runner's responsibility to ensure they have registered on racematix within 7 days of registering via JOMRUN.
